Self Care + Personal Growth Tips
Updated: Sep 19, 2020
A slightly different blog entry today, nutrition talk + recipes are taking a pause whilst I give a little contribution to an important section within the health and wellness world.
Without going too deep, a LOT has changed for me over the last couple of years – from brilliant stuff to some not so brilliant stuff which has brought a mixture of challenges along the way.
I’m sure the majority of you guys reading this will be able to relate, we all deal with similar ups and downs through life – our paths are constantly evolving and some situations just can’t be controlled which can be daunting.
When things get a bit overwhelming, it’s important to give yourself a lil’ pep talk (me included!) Because honestly, there is actually a lot we can do to change our mindsets, turning negativity into positivity and optimism to make the best out of a tricky situation or challenging stage of life.
Here’s my top 20 tips I feel are vital to focus on for self growth and care – my way of offering you some virtual reassurance in this crazy world.
Please realise your own worth and special qualities. Don’t seek validation from others or get too tied up with social media – it’s not real life.
Stop neglecting the hobbies and passions you used to make time for. Keep those things up, it’s part of what makes you ‘you’.
Do not take your health for granted. Respect your body and realise the ability you have to take control of it. It’s never too late.
Less is more: De-cluttering is essential for a tidy mind and clearer outlook.
Commit to your dreams without hesitation. Be confident in your decisions and give it your best shot.
Forget trying to please everyone, it just can’t be done. It’ll put strain on your own well-being (trust me on this one).
Spend less time on instagram.
Spend more time outdoors.
Always be kind, you don’t know what someone else could be dealing with behind closed doors.
On that above note: be smiley to strangers, it’ll brighten their day and yours!
Always respect and give time to those who are always there for you no matter what.
Don’t compare yourself to others, you’re beautiful in your own way – roses and eucalyptus sure look totally different, but both are uniquely beautiful.
Go to bed early, just do it. Sleep helps everything.
Try to not overthink situations (easier said than done, I know) but what will be will be. Roll with it.
Take time out. Go on holiday if you can. It works wonders to remove yourself from the chaos of our lives and refocus/re-balance the mind.
‘Me time’ is crucial. Learn to love your own company and be comfortable just doing you.
Spend more time with and make more time for your grandparents, listen and learn from their stories and advice, they’ve been in the game way longer than you.
Build a positive relationship with yourself first before allowing a special someone in.
Always stay true to yourself and listen to your gut instincts, those feelings are usually spot on.
If in a situation seemingly too big to tackle alone, don’t do it alone – do not be ashamed to seek help from a professional to help get you through the other side of a tricky period – it takes serious courage, so be proud of yourself for taking steps and know that I’m rooting for you whether you know it or not.
